TOXCON 2016

CONTEMPORARY CHALLENGES IN
TOXICOLOGY RESEARCH

June 22-24, 2016 - The High Tatras - Stará Lesná - Slovakia

TOXCON

INTERDISCIPLINARY TOXICOLOGY CONFERENCE

The main topics of the meeting will be environmental and industrial toxicology, experimental and clinical toxicology and important problems of military toxicology. The individual conference contributions (lectures, poster presentations, working groups) will be spread over 3 days of the rich scientific program. Each day will be dedicated to one central topic presented by a highly experienced key-note speaker.

An important part of the Conference will be the discussion on toxicity testing within the new EU legislation (EC 1907/2006) – REACH, whose aim is to improve the protection of human health and the environment through better and earlier identification of intrinsic properties of chemical substances.

Popularity of this meeting went abroad, what confirmed also scientific support from EUROTOX - Federation of European Toxicologists and European Societies of Toxicology. This year will be other research bodies involved in the program of the conference including European Society of Toxicology In Vitro ESTIV, MATTEK In Vitro Life Sciences and others.

History

The history of bilateral meetings of Czech and Slovak toxicologists began 20 years ago. Despite the split of the former Czechoslovak Federation into two independent states in 1993, scientific as well as friendly bonds between Slovak and Czech researches have never been interrupted. Moreover, mutual cooperation of both countries continues on a higher level within bilateral scientific projects, by organising conferences and exchange study stays, now in the frame of the common European Union. In order to carry on the long tradition of interdisciplinary toxicological conferences regularly held in the Medical House in Prague, since 1996 these meetings were held in various Slovak and Czech locations organised by turns in Slovakia and the Czech Republic. Over the last years there has been a growing interest in attending toxicological conferences. Scientist not only from toxicology quarters but also from other related disciplines, such as pharmacology, physiology, endocrinology, oncology or biotechnology take part in.
